Le Petit Haut Lafitte 2017 is a distinguished red wine from the Pessac-Lognan appellation in Bordeaux, France. Produced by Chteau Smith Haut Lafitte, this second wine reflects the estate’s commitment to traditional winemaking and its exceptional terroir.
The 2017 vintage is a blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot. The grapes were hand-harvested and underwent meticulous vinification, including double sorting and fermentation in vats without prior pressing. The wine was aged for 14 months in French oak barrels, 20% of which were new, crafted in the estate’s own cooperage.
Tasting Notes:
Nose: Aromatic bouquet of blackberry, raspberry, tobacco leaf, and star anise.
Palate: Fresh and dynamic attack, a solid mid-palate framed by firm tannins, and a long, fresh finish, signed by the Cabernet Sauvignon.
Food Pairing: This wine pairs beautifully with roasted or grilled meats (beef, lamb, duck), hearty stews, and mature cheeses.
