The 2024 Lourens Family Howard John is a beautifully expressive Swartland blend of 44% Grenache, 39% Cinsault, and 17% Syrah. Each component plays a defining role: Cinsault brings freshness and approachability, Grenache from a focused grower adds balance and structure, while Syrah from Jakkalsfontein contributes texture and personality. Fermented with 30% whole bunches and no added yeast or enzymes, the wine was bottled unfined and coarsely filteredcapturing purity and authenticity in every sip.
The result is an enticing wine with aromas of red berries, pomegranate, rose petals, fynbos, and a hint of white pepper. Succulent fruit, lively acidity, and chalky tannins create a harmonious, energetic palate thats both approachable now and built to age gracefully until at least 2030.
