From a 43-year-old dry-farmed bush vine vineyard in Darling, this Cinsault captures the essence of place and variety. Grown in decomposed granite on a south-facing slope exposed to the cool Atlantics south-easterly winds, the vineyard has been a cornerstone of the Savage range since 2011, consistently delivering purity and finesse.
Meticulous sorting in both vineyard and cellar ensures only the finest fruit makes it through. Fermentation is50% whole bunch, spontaneous, with gentle extraction, followed by two weeks on the skins. After basket pressing, the wine matures for 12 months in seasoned foudre and amphora before bottling.
Tasting Notes
Delicate yet complex, Follow the Line expresses strawberries, cherries, rose petals, and violets, framed by the refreshing energy of granitic soils. The 2024 vintage shows lifted aromatics, precision, and a graceful texture. While immediately charming in its youth, it will also age gracefully for up to 10 years.
