Since 1889, gentian root has been the backbone of this spirit which, along with other herbs and botanicals, makes it a bitter liqueur of a different timbre. The powerful bitterness of Suze comes from the yellow gentian roots that grow for over 20 years in the mountains of France before being torn out by hand.
