The Real McCoy presents Distillers Proof rum as a response to a barrel program. This rum is blended in small batches of 50 cases and bottled at a preferred strength of 92 Proof (46% ABV) as chosen by the Master Distiller. Exclusive to retailers, each batch blend of Distillers Proof originates from a unique selection of barrels, ensuring no two batches are alike and each bottle is individually hand-numbered.

Inside the aging house, every barrel holds a blend of rum, constituted of specific proportions of copper pot still and twin-column Coffey still distillates. Pot still distillate carries a “heavy” flavor profile, contrasting with the lighter style of distillate from the twin-column still. Consequently, every individual blend may present either a heavy profile or a more traditional profile, depending on the collection of barrels used for the unique blend.

Tasting Notes

TheTraditionalflavor profile of our 5 & 12 Year Aged expressions contains more robust fermentation notes at 46% than the 40% ABV, like vanilla, toasted caramel and honey.

TheHeavyflavor profile at 46% retains the Traditional flavors, plus has more complexity from the pot still and barrel, like earth, char, wood and spice.
